The Baltimore Museum of Industry (BMI) was founded in 1977 with the goal of preserving Baltimore’s unique industrial history. The city, a capital of industrial innovation and production during the late 19th century, still retains some of the old industrial feel, though much of the city has been modernized. The BMI seeks to remind visitors of Baltimore’s industrial past while putting it into the context of the modern era, which features technology and heavy industry co-existing to form the unique Baltimore culture and history. The BMI moved into the historic building previously used by the Platt Oyster Cannery building in the Inner Harbor South region of the city in 1981 and now is comprised of a six acre campus that accommodates more than 160,000 visitors each year.

Plan Your Event at The BMI

More than just a recreational and tourist destination, the Baltimore Museum of Industry is also a great location to plan an event. With plenty of parking, excellent views of the Inner Harbor, a pavilion and conference center, the location is central to most of Maryland and features plenty of space to host anything from a conference to an outright extravaganza. The Decker Gallery especially offers a great space for corporate events, banquets, fundraisers, reunions, weddings, Bar Mitzvahs and Bat Mitzvahs, reunions, anniversaries and just about any other event you can imagine. The gallery can accommodate 250 to 500 people depending on the setup of the event.

Baltimore Museum of Industry Pavilion

Situated on the waterfront, the open air pavilion at the BMI can accommodate 300 guests and the pavilion can be modified with clear drop-down walls in the event of inclement weather. Popular events in the pavilion include bull and oyster roasts, crab feasts, family reunions and even formal weddings.

BMI Hercules Conference Center

The Hercules Conference Center accommodates up to 60 people for a conference, class or seminar and tours of the museum itself can be added on for an additional fee. The conference center is available from 7 A.M. to 8 P.M.
